Transport Packaging: plastic boxes

The development of a transport packaging needs the same care we have required to develop a primary packaging. Good transport packaging ensures the integrity of the primary packaging to its destination, the final consumer. Thus, it requires the same attention. The transport packaging is present in all stages of logistics: handling, storage and transportation. Currently, the costs of logistics usually represent around 12% of companies’ revenues. Therefore, when the transport packaging is developed to optimize the movement at all points where it will be used, for intelligent storage at the beginning and at the end of the production chain and predicts all the risks to avoid unexpected expenses during transportation, it will surely ensure adequate logistics costs for the company’s planning.

Returnable plastic containers

With the search for processes optimization, product protection, and cost reductions with labor and facilities, plastic boxes emerge as a good solution. Plastic boxes present several benefits when compared to the other types of materials in regards to:

  • Durability
  • Organization
  • Resistance
  • Cleanliness

Plastic boxes, widely used in automotive production sites, are now taking up room in food, cosmetics, and drug industries. Even the food supply centers are adopting new systems for packaging and transportation of fruit and vegetables in cleanable or disposable plastic boxes, thinking of ensuring the quality of the products and reducing waste.

When we think about organization and cleanliness, the image of returnable plastic packaging comes along and, with it, practically all the garbage is eliminated from productive areas.

Currently, there is a wide variety of plastic boxes with different shapes, sizes, and colors. Some allow the incorporation of wheels and thus can be moved around without the use of forklifts.

Following new market demands, packaging standards have been developed, such as the NR KLT lines, which have thinner walls but keep the “lego” ribbed bottom, as in the KLT (Transport von Kleinen Lasten) line, widely used in the auto parts industry for the transport f components.

The R KLT model, in addition to thinner walls, has a flat bottom to facilitate sliding on the conveyor belts in productive areas.

The larger boxes have opening at the sides that facilitate access for placement and removal of parts. With foldable sides, empty boxes take up to ¼ of the room when filled. Therefore, saving during transport are ensured.

Collapsible Pallet Box

The Plásticos Novel have been increasingly preparing for this market by developing special packaging production systems to meet the diverse needs of the industry. The segment of plastic pallets has also considerably diversified. It has models for all needs, from the most resistant, recommended for the transport of loads over 1000 kg, to those indicated for lighter volumes that can be disposed of after being used for exports.
